MATH RECYCLE COMPETITION - NOV. 17TH
Our school participated along with approximately 17 other area schools in a "Math
Project with Recyclible Materials" for the purpose of incorporating math concepts in order to save the environment.
This took place in the Plaza Rafael Hernandez in Aguadilla. Students were evaluated on creativity, appearance
and the amount of recycled material that was used to make the project. Thank you Mrs. Villarrubia for
inspiring our students with some great ideas!!!

On the evenings of Thursday and Friday, May 4-5, 2006 at 6:30pm, students from both the Middle/High and
Elementary Schools performed in the musical "The Wizard of Oz". It was an outstanding performance on the first
night and a better one on the second night!

to a special convention in San Juan hosted by The Association of Private Schools of PR to celebrate this special event.
On Friday, Feb. 17, our "Teacher of the Year" - Mrs. Rosa Perez, was also taken to this special convention
in San Juan hosted by The Association of Private Schools of PR to celebrate her special day.

Washington D.C. Civics Center Trip
Our 11th grade students are back from Washington D.C. and they had a memorable experience!
They were busy from 8:00AM and their day ended at 9:00PM every day. Nevertheless, this has been a trip that they
will talk about for a long time. It was a great learning experience for each and every one of these students!

Turkey Marathon/Family Day - Friday, November 18:
The Staff and Faculty of CCS have begun planning for this annual event and it's going to be bigger
and better than ever! We are going to have: races, games, prizes, rides, a talent show, karaoke, music, cartoon
characters and food! So, we invite you, your family and friends to join us for a day of fun!
We'll be bringing you more details as soon as possible.

Our Family Day / Turkey Marathon was outstanding! Everyone (parents, children and friends) had

Cowboy/girl Day at the Elementary Campus Was a Success!
Most of our students and teachers at the elementary campus dressed up for the occasion and they
all looked great!

12th Grade Cowboy/Cowgirl Day
On Friday, September 30, 2005, the 12th Grade Graduating Class was allowed to spend the school
day dressed up as cowboys/cowgirls. If the whole class came in dressed as cowboys/cowgirls, CCS would pay $100.00 towards
their graduation fund. Furthermore, if they could convince the teachers and staff to dress up as cowboys/cowgirls on
this day, the 12th graders would receive another $100.00 towards their graduation fund.
The 12th graders were also allowed to hold a "Pig Kissing Contest" which involved the HS teachers
and staff only. The teacher or staff member who collected the most money for the 12th grade graduation
fund, would KISS A PIG!

Student Mind Challenge:
It's time once again for another mind challenge for all CCS students! For 5 days in a row, beginning
on Monday, May 2 thru Friday, May 6, we will be looking for 5 winners (one per day) to answer one question each. The
first student to answer each question will win a $5 gift coupon redeemable at the elementary campus bookstore or at the high
school cafeteria. Remember, there will be 5 winners (if you win once, you can't answer anymore questions)! So

11th & 12th Grade Civics Trip (SY2004-05):
We have added a new web page with details and photos taken by the 11th & 12th grade students on their
7 day trip to Washington, D.C. during the first week of March. They were accompanied by their teacher, Ms. Turner. We
hear that they had an memorable time!
Now our 10th graders are starting to plan and fundraise for the following school year - they say that
they can't wait to go!

Regional Chess Tournament
On April 15th - 17th, 2005, the Puerto Rico Chess Federation conducted
a chess tournament in the Cecader facilities on Ramey Base. Chess players from all ages and from around the island participated.
The tournament was divided into two catagories: 1) participants of the Federation (they have formal rankings
and play for cash prizes), and 2) the students.
CCS was proudly represented by students from the elementary, middle, and
high schools.
Professional categary participants were:

Emanuel Keller - 9th grade
Gabriel Guzman - 10th grade
Student category participants were:

San Juan Star Spelling Bee
On Friday, February 18th, Mrs. Aldarondo accompanied our School Champion Spelling Bee Winner, Carlos
Calzada - 4A, to Mayaguez, to participate in the regional phase of the San Juan Star Spelling Bee Contest.
Carlos made sixth place and is now eligible to continue on to San Juan on Friday, March 4, 2005 to compete islandwide.
We will keep you posted!

Red Cross Donations -
I am so proud of all our students and staff at both campuses. We have managed to collect $364.50 for the Tsunami
victims of South East Asia. A special thanks to Ms. Turner whom along with her students, sold candy at the
High School. The donations are greatly appreciated at the American Red Cross. Your donations provide the
survivors with nutricious foods, basic supplies, such as, tents and hygienic items, and basic health care. All the members
of this school have great big hearts in times of need. God bless everyone and please have a save New Year!

CCS Elementary Chess Tournament -
The first Carib Christian Elementary School Chess Tournament was held today, Friday, January 28th. It
was a complete success! The purpose of the tournament was to encourage students to be a part of something different
and educational and at the same time make it a fun and enjoyable activity. Seventeen students who knew how to play
chess, quickly signed up and many others were interested to learn how to play the game. All of the goals of the
tournament were accomplished.
The first place CCS Chess Tournament winner was:

3rd place winner: Alberto Ramos - 6B
We will try to conduct a chess tournament every month until April or May and on the last
tournament we will give a prize. Tentative tournament dates are: February 25, March 18 and April 22.

On Thursday evening, Jan. 27th, the Boy Scouts attended an initiation ceremony held by their troop
leaders. Each Boy Scout received a special badge. Among those in attendance was Mrs. Yarellys Perez, the elementary
school principal, who was presented with a certificate dedicated to Carib Christian School. Thank you boys, we are truly
proud!

CCS'S MUSICAL "BAH HUMBUG!" WAS A COMPLETE SUCCESS!
WOW! Everyone left the auditorium feeling that they had just been to a Broadway play!
The 2 shows were booked to capacity! The actors were excellent, the costumes were beautiful, and the scenery was great!
There was so much talent on stage, that it left many of us in tears - it was that good! Carib is truly proud of ALL
it students! Congratulations to all who helped make this play a success!

Spelling Bee Champion
Mrs. Aldarondo, coordinator of the San Juan Spelling Bee Contest has announced
Carlos Calzada (from Mrs. Cruz's class - 4A) as the School Champion. The winning word was "procrastinate". In
February, Carlos will go to Mayaguez to compete in the regional event.

The Annual Aguadilla Christmas Parade
Our students from 7th - 12th grades will, once again, be participating in this annual parade which
will be held on Friday, Dec. 3rd at 9:00am. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this festive event!
Ms. Celina Turner is proud to announce the great job that her 7th-10th
grade students did on the Thanksgiving Baskets which were donated to the needy.

Our CCS Turkey Marathon/Family Day SY2004-2005 Was
A Success!
It was a day of fun from beginning to end! We began the
day with students from each grade racing to win turkeys! When the event was over, they got their faces painted
by clowns. Next they got wet going down a huge inflatable water slide. They also climbed a high rock
wall and went through an obstacle course. There was plenty of food and even pony rides. But the best part was our
Talent Show Competition which unfortunately ended the day!
All in all, it was a happy way to start the fall break!

3rd Place: Wilfredo Sanchez & Gabriel Guzman - song and guitars.

time to judge in the 2nd Carib Christian School Chess Tournament held this past Friday, February 25th. Javier studies
at our high school and belongs to the Puerto Rico Chess Federation. He has participated in various chess competitions
throughout the island.
The next chess tournament will be held on Friday, March 18th at 1:00PM in the library.

By means of The Scholastic Book Club, Mrs. Soto's students read a total of 100 books. As

Jose Rios becomes an official CCS Web History Investigator!
Jose Rios, from 5A, becomes the first official CCS Web Investigator.
He took the four names he found on our site this week (Tiberius Caesar, Caligula, Hadrian and Augustus Caesar) and concluded
that they were all Roman Emperors, thereby cracking "The Italian Case." For his smart work, he gets a free pizza, compliments

11th Grade Going to Washington D.C.
Members of the Carib Christian School 11th grade class are going to Washington D.C. to study,
firsthand, how the U.S. Government operates. Students will learn about:
-The nation's capitol and foundations of democracy
- Branches of government and political ideologies
- Public policy issues and civic skills
- Capitol Hill
